The average person farts 14 times a day. The average yogi? Maybe a little more than that.
We’re all been there, and if it wasn’t YOU (liars) it’s definitely happened to someone you know. Yoga farts are nothing to be embarrassed about: the poses literally twist your body & propel trapped gas outwards. Still, if you’d prefer to keep your bodily gases to yourself, here are some great tips on how to flatten your flatulence and how to handle a fart situation while in class.
You will need…
- Preemptive farts
- Poker face
- Cough, sneeze, or exhale
- Wind-relieving pose
- Class with dogs (optional)

Last weekend my LUNA Chix team hosted a yoga clinic specially designed for cyclists and my sister and I went. However, we had biked for a couple hours that morning and I didn’t get much sleep the night before. Those 2 things coupled with the fact that I ate a huge brunch made me really sleepy for this yoga class. And of course, being yoga, it’s very soothing and relaxing - especially at the end where you just lie there for 5-10 minutes.
Sooo I fell asleep. I didn’t even realize it until: I SNORED. In a YOGA CLASS. When it’s the QUIETEST PART OF THE CLASS. I woke myself up with this one loud snore and was really confused for about 5 seconds. I wasn’t even sure if I had snored because I was so confused and no one looked around or anything.
Afterwards in the car, I asked my sister if I had snored and she burst out laughing so loud and said that I had snored and she was like “WTF?!” haha. She said she didn’t want to look at me during the class because if she had we both would have busted out laughing uncontrollably and disturbed the class…. and never been allowed in a yoga class again!
I don’t think I have ever snored before in my life so that was just really weird and hilarious. I’m going to ask my teammates if they heard anyone snore in the class XD

This morning my sister and I got up early to go riding! I was leading since I know more routes and I had a 25 miler planned. Well, I suck at remembering directions to places, even if I’ve done the route a couple times. So we got a little lost and long story short, we ended up doing 33.1 miles. Woot!
Afterwards we had an awesome brunch at our local co-op grocery store and rested for an hour before we had to go to a Yoga for Cyclists Clinic that my LUNA Chix team was arranging as one of our fundraisers for the Breast Cancer Fund. We raised lots of money and got to stretch out really well after biking this morning so it was nice. I was so tired and yoga makes me tired so I was pretty much asleep by the end.
Now I’m studying for my final exam for my 1st summer school class. It’s tomorrow and then I have a couple days to chill before my next class (Anatomy) starts.

Seriously, you’re just laying down. Cool? Anyone can do that. But can everyone do a 3 minute plank and have fantastic abs? I think not.
