We change our behavior when the pain of staying the same becomes greater than the pain of changing. Consequences give us the pain that motivates us to change.

Ok so this morning I went to see a physical therapist at Fleet Feet Sports in Carrboro. It was only a brief 15 minute session (but it was free) and I think it was very helpful.
The PT found some weak spots in my hip flexors and showed me ways to stretch and strengthen them. Also, the day before, I got some good information from Danyale, a Certified Personal Trainer, Corrective Exercise Specialist, Group Fitness Instructor and Nutrition & Wellness Coach who answered my question about sore/tight hip flexors here: http://rundanyale.tumblr.com/tagged/hip_stretches
Also interestingly, the PT found some sore spots in my low back and said that those sore spots plus my hip flexor pain may be the result of running with my pelvis tilted too far downwards and arching my back forward. Instead I should try to focus on maintaining a neutral position for my pelvis when I run and that should help my hip flexors and my back.
So hopefully with this new information, I can run pain-free!!
