Before and After

The first cast went up to my elbow. 3 weeks later and I’m in a shorter, harder cast. Got Carolina Blue!!

3 more weeks until I get ol’ blue off my arm. Then I have to get mobility back in my wrist, then strength.

The doctor said my radius moved a few degrees from where they set it but that it was healing fine so it shouldn’t move anymore. Also, I shouldn’t have any mobility restrictions later on down the road which is good to hear!

My sister, mom, and dad were the first to sign haha

That’s me in the middle. Always been a tomboy. We were the 1st 3 to complete the Hellbender workout.
This was a couple weeks ago at my summer gym where I took Olympic lifting lessons. <3 MashElite

[Flash 10 is required to watch video]

Here’s a vid of me successfully snatching 65lbs. This felt so easy and then I added 10lbs and just couldn’t do it. Just one of those days I guess.

Today was actually my 4th day snatching so I shouldn’t be too hard on myself

Blueberries Galore!!

My school is awesome! Today they had a FREE field trip where you could go to a local farm and pick your own blueberries. I LOVE blueberries! I have them everyday!

I invited my friend to go with me and we had lots of fun. We both filled up our buckets to the brim with blueberries which was 4 quarts. The farm only charged $20 per bucket, which is awesome if you compare that to what grocery stores charge. I got a bunch in the freezer already and just topped a protein pancakes with some. :) So delicious!

In the pic where we are holding up our bags of blueberries, we each had 3 of those bags.

Going on a LUNA Chix ride in a few. See ya fitblrs!

Don’t Want to Run in the Heat During the Summer? Solution: Headlamp + Night Running
Last week I bought a headlamp so I could go night running without tripping over my feet in the dark.
I got to try it out on Friday night and it was awesome. It was pitch black outside when I went but it was much cooler than during the day albeit a little humid.
I am very pleased with this headlamp. I got it at Great Outdoor Provision Store for about $20 and it’s awesome. It doesn’t bounce on my head or slide off, it’s comfortable, and it illuminates a big enough area in front of me. My mom thought that the bobbing of the light when I run would get me motion sick but I felt great the whole time.
So if you’re tired of getting up early to run and escape the heat, consider buying a headlamp and go night running!
Be careful though, creepers come out at night so try to run with a buddy if you can. :)

Today: CYCLING + YOGA
In the pic: myself and my sister
This morning my sister and I got up early to go riding! I was leading since I know more routes and I had a 25 miler planned. Well, I suck at remembering directions to places, even if I’ve done the route a couple times. So we got a little lost and long story short, we ended up doing 33.1 miles. Woot!
Afterwards we had an awesome brunch at our local co-op grocery store and rested for an hour before we had to go to a Yoga for Cyclists Clinic that my LUNA Chix team was arranging as one of our fundraisers for the Breast Cancer Fund. We raised lots of money and got to stretch out really well after biking this morning so it was nice. I was so tired and yoga makes me tired so I was pretty much asleep by the end.
Now I’m studying for my final exam for my 1st summer school class. It’s tomorrow and then I have a couple days to chill before my next class (Anatomy) starts.
:D I hope everyone’s weekend has been splendid!

BIKE FIT
I have a summer internship helping out Victor who owns a Bicycle Studio called BicycleLab where he performs bike fits for people, builds custom bikes, does repair, hosts clinics, etc. and last week I starred in a bike fit video with him that he can put online to help advertise his business and teach people about the importance of bike fit.
It was awesome! The Dynamic Fit Unit is the bike contraption you see in the picture that is used to figure out the best position on the bike for a particular person. With it, he can move the seat and handlebars up, down, forward, and backwards to get the perfect position for an individual’s biomechanics. He also has saddles and handlebars that he switches out and he can make the crank longer or shorter as well.
The bike is hooked up to a computer that is connected to 3 flat screen displays on the wall. The first shows the fit bike’s particular measurements and it can show several different ‘fits’ that have been tried out and saved. The 2nd monitor is the coolest and it shows your power output for both feet at all points in your pedal stroke. The 3rd monitor is a video display of a side view of yourself on the bike.
During the process I found out that I had been pedaling inefficiently and by seeing my results on the monitor and with expert advice from Victor, I was able to increase my efficiency by 25%!! WOW! I never would have know I was pedaling inefficiently if I hadn’t seen the results in front of my face. And I wouldn’t have been able to improve if it hadn’t been for Victor’s help.
I’ll be sure to post the video when it’s done. It’s in the editing stage now
In this picture, the saddle is too low but we were in the middle of demonstrating how the seat can move up and down.
