Made a visit to MDUSA yesterday ! Rebecca Gerdon did some heavy lifting and got a clean & jerk meet PR, as well as a total meet PR.
Lets just say she impressed the FUCK out of Pendlay, and shows a FUCKTON of promise in the sport.

Video: Part of a HIIT workout me and Emily did outside today on Hooker Fields at UNC Chapel Hill.

It was a beautiful today and we wanted to do some conditioning so we did our workout outside :) I brought my portable badass speaker (I am DJ Swoll afterall) and we had that blasting.

Our workout was 3 Rounds of:

  • 1 min of KB snatches
  • 1 min of a bodyweight exercise (burpees, squats, lunges, etc.)
  • Jog a lap around the field

It was a good little workout to get the heart rate up and get some sun

Monday Training:
I looked kinda like a crossfitter with the compression socks but they make my calves feel better so I&#8217;ll keep wearing them. I&#8217;ve got some cool green ones too. :)
1:00pm
Back squat up to 85% (230lbs)
My hips were feeling kinda weird here but they felt fine in the evening. Still had no problem squatting 85% 2x3 with no belt. 
Inverse Rows
Because I wanted to do some kind of pulling and I hadn&#8217;t done these in a while
Medball slams for some HIIT

7pm.
Snatch (up to 90%)
Got up to 65kg with no misses except for one where I had it but it slowly pulled me backward so I had to bail. Bar landed on my shins too :(
These felt really good though. I&#8217;ve got a groove going
Clean and Jerk up to 90%
90% for me is around 83kg. I got up to 75kg without any problems but just couldn&#8217;t jerk the 80kg. This is typical if I have squatted earlier in the day though. My jerk always suffers. 
My calves were also starting to hurt during my c&amp;j&#8217;s. I found that stretching them helps a good deal. I don&#8217;t know why I didn&#8217;t think to do that earlier. I thought rolling them was enough. NOPE

Monday Training:

Friday Training:
Friday was an awesome day, despite late nights Wednesday and Thursday night (Imagine Dragons an Bassnectar concerts) 
It was max out Friday so we all went HAM. With me being a little over a week out from my MDUSA tryout, coach told me he wanted me to hit around 70/90, which would give me a 160kg total. 
Snatches went WAYYYY better than expected. Because I was using a mix of kilo and pound plates, I was able to go up in 2lb and 3lb jumps instead of just 5lb jumps. I don’t know why I didn’t think of this before. 
I only had one miss at 154lbs (1lb below my max at the time), then I got it and moved up to 157lbs, and got it! It felt really easy so I decided to go up to 160lbs and got that one! Also easy so I went up again to 162lbs. This one was slightly more of a challenge but I settled and was able to come up fairly easy.
I decided to go up again and had 165lbs on the bar (my bodyweight!) but I think I rushed my setup and so I ended up just doing a high pull. Coach told me to stop so we could end snatches on a good note. A 7# PR :)
Now onto clean and jerks. Cleans felt a little slower than normal today but I still managed to clean and jerk 199lbs with no problems. I cleaned 204lbs but missed the jerk. 
My total for Friday ended up being 73.6/90.5 with a 164.1kg total - a PR total for me!

Monday Training
3pm @ Crossfit Local :)
Snatch 
I was supposed to work up to 90% and then do down sets at 77 and 87% but decided I felt to good to stop at 90% so I tried for a PR. Had 158lbs (3lb PR) over my head several times but just couldn&#8217;t stick it! SO CLOSE

Clean and Jerk
Only had 25 minutes to get C&amp;J in so I rushed through these with only 30sec-1min between each lift but I felt really good so I was excited to push myself to a PR. Loaded up 208lbs on the bar. Cleaned it nicely but then fell backwards with it. Tried again a minute later and got it! But it was a close save because my right hand did something weird. Spend so much energy in the clean that I missed the jerk. But I&#8217;m sure I&#8217;d have had it had the clean been cleaner :) Still a Clean PR though
Didn&#8217;t do any down sets because of lack of time

Worked up to 120kg/264lb
2x2 at 97.5kg/214.5lb

My Traps were so sore from Clean &amp; Jerk on Saturday after not cleaning for a week. Like it hurt to turn my head to the left. Sleeping was hard last night lol

PR 208lb Clean. UGLY AS HELL. But still awesome :) It was a good save. I think I could have gotten the jerk if I hadn’t have used so much energy coming up with the clean.

I’m at Crossfit Local, where I would train last semester as it was the only place I had access to that had bumper plates. I got to see all my crossfit friends again and the atmosphere there is great! PR’s are the norm there. 

I will probably go back on Wednesday :)
