3 Major PR's in 1 Week
This week has been great so far! I just got out of my Anatomy exam this morning.  I think the exam went well despite my last minute cramming and not getting much sleep last night.  I need to be studying a little every day instead of mostly studying the 2-3 days before the exam. Also awesome for this week: 3 Major weighlifting PR’s. Monday I got a PR in my barbell squat! I’m now up to...

thespartanwarrior: Here is a list of what I deem to be sources of accurate information when it comes to fitness and nutrition. Now, unfortunately, there is still some misinformation that can float around in these areas, but I feel that these links provide sources that minimize on the “bro-science” aspect of it all.

Weekend Recap
I spent the weekend hanging out at a Lake with my parents, sister, and grandparents (and my dogs of course!) and had fun. There was: kayaking swimming water frisbee eating running and even turkish get-ups at a Dick’s Sporting Goods Store <— Yup I saw a 30lb dumbbell and immediately wanted to turkish-get-up that sucker.  Got some strange looks from people but I just smiled....

talenstraining: Here’s a great paper written by Dr. Stephen Byrnes. I believe that this is pretty old. How old? Well, if you look at the references, not a single study here was done after 2001. It may seem counter-intuitive that I’d want to post about something so old, but 1. This is one of the better “In a…

“Being able to exercise is a privilege.”

paleocrossfittingbeast: This woman truly describes someone who’s got heart and doesn’t quit when the going gets tough. She did this entire workout (20cal row and 30 burpees not shown) with a dislocated right shoulder. She didn’t finish the workout, but my god she did’t stop until the clock ran and she had no choice but to stop. AMAZING! This video brought me to tears, it’s what crossfit is all...

There is just something fundamentally satisfying in being able to lift something heavy, in knowing that I can run fast and far if I need to, and in feeling that I could put up a good fight if I had to.

Be Careful With Alcohol
Ever since coming to college I have learned over and over again that alcohol is not something to abuse.  I’ve learned from first-hand experiences and from watching others (friends, roommates, random people).   Last night was one of those experiences where I watched a lot of people mess up. One of my roommates had some people over at our house last night for drinks and this morning I woke...

(Macca's) Training Tips — Agree or Disagree →
jjae: This one is kind of sadistic. I always had this problem of my stomach shutting down during the marathon of an Ironman. So I thought if I could run with my stomach shutting down, I could do it in a race. So once a week I would sit down and eat nachos with really spicy hot sauce. Then I’d get my running gear on, go for a run and of course, my stomach would shut down, but I’d just keep...

So I didn’t really win, but I’ll take it. Obstacle course #1 - Second. Dummy drag - First. Dummy hoist and rescue - Second. Really bummed… This guy is awesome!! Women On Wheels
Yesterday I wanted to try riding with a new group.  I’d heard of Women on Wheels from some of my LUNA Chix teammates and it sounded like a good group to ride with. Women on Wheels is a cycling group that leaves a local park every Wednesday at 6pm.  It’s a women-only group and it’s more independent than the LUNA Chix rides.  The LUNA Chix rides require the riders to sign a waiver...
